A focus for international tourism, Marbella is one of today’s most representative Mediterranean cities.
It almost doesn’t need any introduction as it’s already known the world over thanks to its privileged position, its unrivalled climate and its natural surroundings which aesthetically combine the sea with mountains.
The city is known as the ‘World City of Tourism’; this because of its architecture, its more than 27 kilometres of world-class beaches, its bridges and its climate.
The small village which surround the city (mostly of Arabic origin) rest on sloping hillsides and keep vigil over the ruined remains of ancient civilisations.
Marbella is a modern city. Its inhabitants have an open and friendly character, which lends it a cosmopolitan and universal air, one that is the product of the special ambiance of languages, race, creed and colour and helped by the fact that many civilisations, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs all passed this way.
Its modern environment respects its ancient past while the Old Centre and the Plaza de los Naranjos are known the world over. These, together with the more recent parks of la Constitución and de la Represa, with the Bonsai Museum, are also universally reknowned.
A journey here can easily convert into a continuous sensation of pleasure. The most natural products, such as the sun and beach, together with the most sophisticated hotels and exquisite restaurants provide enjoyment not only to the sense of sight but also the tastebuds.
Marbella’s night life is fundamentally intense, an intensity that reaches its peca in summer. On offer is a huge variety. There is an infinity of clubs and bars for all ages, tastes and budgets. Night is also the reserve of the Casino, one of the most exclusive of Europe.
In the city centre the Plaza de los Naranjos possesses ample terraces that provide the opportunity to enjoy a romantic walk or a meal by the starlight. You can walk through the many streets of the Old Quarter to enjoy the combination of international tourism with one of the most typical of Andalusian villages.
There are terraces on almost every corner where you can enjoy extraordinary cuisine, fried fish and shell fish. There are bars for all tastes including those that specialise in live musical shows; unforgettable nights for everyone. The most exclusive discoteques in Marbella are found in the luxury hotels that populote the city.
The cultural programme too is of significant importance and getting more so each day. Museums of all types as well as national and international conventions covering the most diverse subjects and debates all help to make this a focal place for cultural development.
Puerto Banús is world famous for its luxurious marina and the huge variety of options on offer for both leisure and gastronomy; this together with an unparalleled commercial and night life.
There are two beaches, Levante and Poniente of over 150 metres in length. The buildings that surround them, typical of Mediterranean Ports, enclose the port installations and present the whole village as a living entity, one where sailors feel as if they are in their own home and where the visitors and residents can enjoy an authentic marina environment.
The zone is completed by the over 250 of the best and most varied of commercial outlets carrying all brands and which are open all year round.
