vista-de-ceutaole1.jpg Ceuta, gateway to Africa, is a unique city where the essence of two distinctive seas, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, mix with the exotic perfume of another continent: Africa. It is so close that you can almost reach out and touch it from any balcony that looks out from Andalusia across the Straights of Gibraltar.

Even though Ceuta comprises 21 square kilometres of tradition, varied gastronomy, fiestas and modern installations, this latter-day wealth can’t erase the invaluable legacy of the different civilizations who left their indelible footprints here – Romans, Byzantines and Portuguese being but a few of them.

Ceuta is a place so special that, even though it is only 21 kilometres from the Costa del Sol, it offers a never ending contrast of suggestive shades and hues that makes it an attractive, must-see destination.

ceuta3ole.jpg CLOSER TO CEUTA Getting to Ceuta is easy. There are two options, both of which are experiences in themselves.

The first option is by sea from the port of Algeciras. Nearly every day modern and rapid sailings cross the straights of Gibraltar and, after only 35 minutes that enable you to experience a pleasurable mini cruise offering luxury facilities and attention to detail, you can be enjoying the atmosphere in Ceuta.

The second option is by air. It consists of a short but spectacular helicopter ride from Malaga airport which allows contemplation of the marvels of the Straights of Gibralter, the Costa del Sol and the Ceuti coastline. Within half an hour you will be ready to begin business, visit exceptional shopping facilities or, simply, enjoy a beautiful land.

Tickets for either the ferry or the helicopter can be purchased in any travel agency. Don’t forget to look out for interesting tourist packages which provide offers to make your visit much easier and enjoyable.

A VISIT TO MOROCCO

The closeness with Morocco makes our city an excellent point of entry into this exotic country. Ceuta is converted into the gateway to Africa by being the last European city before crossing the frontier. From here you can make daily excursions to Morocco while still enjoying the comforts that Ceuta has to offer.

In the city’s many travel agencies you’ll find several different itineraries that, with the assistance of a guide to translate into your own language, will help you to get to know all the charms of our near neighbour.
